AUXiliary Control Board (AUX Board)
The AUX board is a VME based 6U sized PCB board to generate all auxiliary signals and power voltages for one cluster of 4 fLVPS. The board consist of 4 x 3 isolated power supplies for ELMB motherboard, ELMB board itself and the StartUp voltage for LV bricks, current sources for remote on/off HV/DIG side electronics of the calorimeter and interlock circuitry. In total 64 AUX Control Boards are installed in the ATLAS USA15 control room in order to supervise 256 finger LVBOXes.
Power consumption measured: Standby mode: Iin_min= 290mA (P= 23W, S = 66 VA, Q = 62 VAR) Full 4ch run: Iin_max=630mA (P=119W, S =145 VA, Q = 83 VAR) Counting 64 AUX boards, they will consume in full power mode: P = 7620W S = 9300 VA Power Factor PF= cos(Fi) = P / S = 0.34 - 0.82 (<0.95!!) we need to correct the PF by a parallel connected power line capacitors ~min 5uF/AUXboard or by PF correctors
